Artist Statement:
Amoebae form pseudopods that can be extended and retracted as the cell moves. They have a single nucleus that contains most of its DNA.
Essential for healthy aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, they come indifferent sizes and their shape continually shifts and changes. Someamoeba are pathogenic or lethal to humans.
This piece takes artistic license to how these tiny organisms look and work together to improve the environment by recycling the nutrients in the soil.
